Thomas Lea Clarke is an electronic musician and sound artist living in Berlin whose practice approaches sound through installation, live performance and composition to explore topics such as spatiality, sonic experience, histories, memory and audio technology.
He is interested in how sounds shape our experience of the world, the meanings that they carry and how they can be recorded, composed and presented to explore these topics.
Clarke’s background in radio broadcasting has led to recent works that repurposed various audio playback machines such as turntables, reel to reel tape machines and radios to examine the dynamics of our interactions with playback media and music and explore the relation of music and recordings to emotion and memory.
Clarke’s work has been exhibited and performed at institutions and festivals such as Casino Forum D’Art Contemporain, Fuse Art Space, Soundsabout Gallery, Cafe Oto, Mira Festival and Nuits Sonores.
